Privacy Policy for Mich Sampson, musician

I am committed to protecting the privacy and personal data information of my clients. This policy explains how and why I collect your data, how I use it, how I store it and what your rights are including complaint rights.

The type of personal information we collect

I currently collect and process personal information for the purposes of:

  • Interacting with you if you are asking for advice
  • Interacting with you if you are buying a service
  • Informing you of future services I am offering

I collect names, addresses, and email contact details.

My website host also logs your IP address, browser and operating system.

Google Analytics tracks basic pageviews and visit data such as device type, operating system, and browser type. It does not track individual users.

I do not sell, rent, otherwise trade or disclose your personal information to any third party. I may share your information if I need technical assistance in monitoring and maintaining my communications with you, or if you have technical issues with my website.

My website is not an ecommerce site. Therefore I DO NOT accept nor store credit/debit card or any financial transaction information through my site.

How I get the personal information and why we have it

The personal information I process is provided to me directly by you through my website, mailing list sign-up form, e-mail, or telephone communications or through attending my events or courses.

The information is collected for the purposes detailed above.

You may decline to receive any follow-up communications, and can instruct me accordingly by email to mich@mich-sampson.com, by phone or by post to the address below.

Legal Basis

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information are:

  • Your consent. You have given your consent by using my contact form, by emailing me or by otherwise personally entering into discussion with me about a project.

  • I have a legitimate interest. I need your contact details for communication with you if you have expressed interest in my service.

How I store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

If we are corresponding about work I am providing for you, I keep the collected information described above for the duration of my direct interaction with you and for seven years afterwards in case you need repeat services or in case of tax queries. I will then dispose of your information by securely destroying or removing it from all electronic or digital retrieval systems and databases.

If you have signed up to my mailing list, your information will remain on the list until you choose to remove it.

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

Your right of access – You have the right to ask me for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask me to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask me to complete information you think is incomplete.

Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that I transfer the personal information you gave me to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.
